Spotters Australia Continues to Monitor this Rain Event. Falls exceeding 100mm have been recorded. 6:30pm Sunday 19th June 2016

ECL Update - 19/06/16 - 18:30 HOURS

Up to 50mm of rain has already fallen in the Illawarra whilst in SE QLD falls of 150mm have easily been reached.
There is a heightened risk of water spouts/tornadic activity with this event.

Rest of Sunday:
We see a split low setup with one situated just south of Sydney and the other inland northern NSW.
Again this is a quite fast moving system so only expect 6-18hrs of Action

The winds are ramping up along the coastal fringes between 1600 - & 1900 hours this evening between Port Macqauire / Batemans Bay to around 70-90km/h at times
By Sunday late evening/early hours Monday locations such as the southern Illawarra, Shoalhaven and South Coast should start to feel the effects with winds 45+knots expected.

Currently the low looks intensify south of Port Kembla between approx 2100hrs and 0200am before rapidly weakening and moving away.

Falls of 100-2000mm are quite likely with heavier isolated falls under any embedded thunderstorms.

There is a heightened risk of water spouts/tornadic activity with this event.

Monday:
Should see the tracking off the south coast of NSW in the early hours sliding to the SSE as it goes, coastal winds will be strong to gale fore with heavy rain fall along the coast. Flooding is possible overnight Sunday in to Monday.

Places like Canberra might pick up 50mm whilst the coast could see up to 250mm+ from Saturday to Monday again local heavier falls possible.

By around midday Monday things should contract to rain/showers however strong west winds look to develop in the early to late afternoon and will be gusty at times.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide you with updates as we can.

If local flooding occurs please stay OUT of flood water.
