for damaging winds and blizzards
for people in the Hunter, Illawarra, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts

DAMAGING WINDS. BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ON THE SNOWY MOUNTAINS.
Weather Situation
During Saturday and Sunday a strong cold front with a low to the south will move through the state bringing very cold, vigorous westerly winds. Snow developing above 1500 metres Friday night and gradually lowering to about 600 metres by Sunday morning.
DAMAGING WINDS around 65 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are forecast to develop in Snowy Mountains district during Saturday. Alpine Peaks may experience winds around 80 km/h with peak gusts around 125 km/h.
On Sunday: DAMAGING WINDS around 65 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are forecast for the Illawarra and Central Tablelands forecast districts and parts of the Hunter, Southern Tablelands and Australian Capital Territory, Snowy Mountains forecast districts. Alpine Peaks may experience winds around 60 km/h with peak gusts around 100 km/h.
BLIZZARD conditions are forecast to develop in the Snowy Mountains forecast district during Saturday.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
Keep clear of fallen power lines.
