NSW Flood Watch - UPDATED 2/5/15

Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology New South Wales

FLOOD WATCH FOR THE MACLEAY, MANNING, PATERSON AND WILLIAMS RIVER VALLEYS
Issued at 6:34 am EST on Saturday 2 May 2015
##

Note: This Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding along all rivers and creeks within a nominated valley and is NOT a Flood Warning [see note below].

A low pressure system is expected to move offshore and southwards to be near the Northern Rivers district this Saturday morning, and then off the Mid North Coast by Sunday. This will bring further rain, heavy at times, to the mid north coast and Hunter districts during Saturday.

On Saturday morning Flood Warnings were current for several New South Wales coastal rivers from the Queensland Border to Port Macquarie.

For the remainder of this event there is still a chance of minor flooding in the following river valleys developing during Saturday:

1. Macleay River valley

2. Manning River valley, including Gloucester

3. Paterson and Williams River valleys

This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and creeks must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop. Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service. Across NSW over 70% of Flood Watches are followed by flooding within the catchment.
